Mithras

Mithras worship is best known from the Roman period. We are not Roman recreationists and see what we do as having roots in the past but being a modern development. Rooted but not trapped. We believe that the Mysteries of Mithras have real value in the 21st century and we aim to continue the work in the shadow and the light.

The Roman “Mithras”, Persian "Mithra" and Sanskrit "Mitra" derive from an Indo-Persian word "mitra" meaning contract / agreement / covenant. 

Mithras is the God of the agreement. That is why we value consent and oath so highly. This is a core principle of modern Mithraism.
